Darlene King
Tell us about your family.
I am married and have four daughters and one son.
What's a favorite childhood memory?
Riding dirt bikes and fishing with my dad.
Why did you become a teacher?
I became a Barton Tutor because two of my children were diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. I watched as they were tutored for years and was impressed by how much the Barton System helped them. I wanted to help other struggling students, so I became certified in the Barton System and began tutoring privately. I love what I do!
What are your interests outside of work?
I like crafts, outdoors (when it's cool), kayaking, hiking, and traveling.
What makes a great teacher?
I believe a great teacher is dedicated and versatile because every child learns differently.
What do you love about SRCS?
It's like a family here.
What is a fond teaching memory?
I love to see the light in a student's eyes when they get something they were struggling with.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I love working one-on-one with students and being around dedicated teachers and fellow Christians.
