Tell us about your family.
My husband and I began dating in 2003, and we moved to Citrus County in 2012. We have a son and a daughter and love living in a more rural community.
Who was an influential teacher for you, and why?
I have been blessed to have some great teachers in my life. I think of Mrs. Gavigan, my 3rd grade teacher, who believed in me and my abilities. My high school art teacher, Mr. Larry White, was very patient and nurturing, but most importantly, he affirmed and supported my artistic talent. It's important to have teachers who champion for you, and I hope I am able to do that for my students... to encourage them no matter what their skill level is and get them to push past the uncomfortable.
What are your interests outside of work?
Spending time with family and friends is important to me. I love going to church and being involved with the community. I enjoy kayaking and time at the YMCA. I teach art classes outside of school, and I have recently been sculpting, making jewelry, and working with resin. I love staying busy, but that's not hard with young children around!
What do you love about SRCS?
I really love the school's mission, core values, and sense of community. I love that we can pray and talk about God. I love that there's student worship and Chapel, which I get to attend. I love that we believe in Jesus, the Bible, and God's truth. I am so thankful for the leadership, the teachers, the students, and everyone who is part of this beautiful organization.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I love teaching students at different grade levels - watching them grow and realizing their potential. I love introducing them to a classical education in the fine arts. Mostly, I just really love the community here. It's definitely a blessing.
